EVIE'S EAR PART 5 Day:1

My daughter Evie was born with out her right ear (little known fact. . . it’s why she is our daughter…Korea is less tolerant of “differences” and she came from a very poor family that wouldn’t have been able to help her. Her birth Grandma said she must go to America…glad she did)

Evie didn’t really care that she didn’t have an ear until 3rd grade. Then she started feeling self conscious about it and, well, sunglasses won’t stay on. We looked into options and a prosthetic ear seemed the way to go. Two surgeries to put metal posts in her head (magnets go on these and her ear will attach with magnets. . . cool!) and we are finally here a year after our journey began to get this girl an ear. It was, after all, on her Christmas list.

I neglected to post Part 4 on here so here’s a recap:

Her top post got infected. We thought it had healed. We rescheduled for August. Things went down hill. Her POST FELL OUT. She had to have another surgery to put a post in her skull. It stunk. She was a super hero.

Fast forward 6 months and here we are . . . Part 5

WE ARE IN MINNESOTA! Evie is asleep in the bed behind me exhausted from the excitement of it all. Before we left she said to me . . . I just can’t wait to find out what our WIFI password will be at the hotel. Ok. I think she’s not quite sure what to look foward too! We are lucky that our Dr has an office not only in Rochester but also in Bloomington . . across the street from the Mall of America. Christmas shopping!

Tomorrow morning we meet bright and early with the aniplastologist and start the ear (watch for details about this!).
